Appreciating the service rendered by the brave police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Eastern Region, Shantanu Sinha said that police personnel must work selflessly to protect the public 24 hours a day.
He was addressing a rally after inaugurating Police Memorial Day celebrations in Yadgir on Tuesday.
Police officers have to face many challenges while on duty and serving the people. “You must take instructions from your superior officers and extend service accordingly. Apart from public service, you must give time to your family members to balance duty and personal life,” he said.
He prayed for the martyred police officers and personnel and said the sacrifices of such brave people will always be remembered. He appealed to the department personnel not to embarrass senior officers as well as the department by misbehaving on duty.
Superintendent of Police Pruthvik Shankar said that 10 Indian CRPF Jawans and Assistant Commandant Karansingh sacrificed their lives in a confrontation with Chinese Army personnel at the Aksai Chin border on October 21, 1959 and since then the day has been observed as Police Remembrance Day to remember their sacrifices.
Deputy Commissioner Harshal Bhoyar and CEO Lavish Ordia also spoke.
The police personnel fired three shots in the air to honor the brave police personnel and army jawans.
Deputy Inspector of Police Bharat Kumar Talawar and Nagaraj, Police Inspector Sunil Kumar, Sub Inspector Manjegouda, Manjula, retired police officers and other citizens attended.
