Police Kolkata defended the arrest of the influence of social media and the student of the rights of Sharmistha Panoli and stated that the contributions that reported it were “hateful manifestations” and should not be associated with freedom of expression. The arrest was caused by political outrage, while the opposition of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused the government led by mamata Banerjee of the “state of sponsored repression”.
BJP spokesman Gaurav Bhatia called the arrest “shameful”. “Mamata Banerjee traveled almost 1,500 kilometers from Calcutta to arrest a student of Sharmistha Panoli – just because she expressed her opinion for which she publicly apologized!” He wrote in a post on the Social Media platform.
Some accounts on social media are spreading false information that the police unlawfully arrested the student of the right for opposing Pakistan. This narrative is malicious and misleading.
The statement of national pride and patriotism is a thing every citizen and organization…

The opposition leader in West Bengal, Suend Adhikari, also expressed his support to Mrs. Panoli and claimed that the repressive measures in the state are selectively focused “only against Hindal Sanatani”.
Online campaigns under the hashtags, such as #Releasesharmistha and #freesharmistha, have gained traction, with supporters questioning the legality of the police event of the Calcutta in the arrest of a woman based in a gurrogram and the role of police in Haryana.
According to the police, Mrs. Panoli, the resident of the Anandapur area in Calcutta, has been running since it was registered against her company at the Garden Reach 15. Was arrested from the Gurrogram 30 May.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the police said Kalkou said that “more social media accounts spread misinformation” by displaying arrest as illegal. They argued that the arrest was not associated with its “contradictory Pakistan”, but rather because of the video “insulting the religious faith of the class of Indian citizens” and those that promoted “disharmony and hatred between different communities”.
The case concerns the video of Mrs. Panoli shared on social media after a recent attack by Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, who claimed 26 lives. In the video, she made notes considered anti -Islamic and used an offensive language in a reference to Pakistan and also applied an unfounded claim of “Sindoor operation”. Later she issued an apology on May 15, on the day the company was submitted.
TMC Kunal Ghosh spokesman said on Monday, June: “This is a complete provocation, intentional trap. Such poisonous stimuling is afraid that it has a very bad impact on the public. Therefore, there is no comparison.
Attorney Mrs. Panoli, Mohammad Shami, said, “It was in court custody until June 13, until June 13. It was dismissed in court custody because the court said that the investigation was still in the emerging phase and wanted officers to give the matter, and that is in judicial custody.”
