Police Uttarakhand (September 30, 2025) created a special investigation team (SIT) to probate the death of journalist Rajiv Pratap, days after his body was recovered from the Bhagirathi River, the officials said.
The Director of the Police (DGP) Deepam Seth said that SIT, headed by the Uttarkashi Deputy Police, will explore all aspects of the case, including CCTV shots, electronic evidence, call details and statements seen by journalists.
A technical evaluation of his car will also be carried out, he said.
The former police said he quoted the report of the posthumous that he died as a result of internal injuries of his chest and abdomen.
Superintendent UtTarkashi Police Sarita Doval said that the postmort report did not reveal any signs of attack on the body of a journalist.
