The district police in Elur have set up the power of response to disasters in Elur (EDRF) to perform rescue and rehabilitation operations during the floods, heavy rains and other natural calamities.
The newly created force includes police staff from various cadres trained in rescue techniques, including operations in channels, streams and Godavari. “The Godavari flood level on the rise has been issued throughout the district. We closely coordinates the Central Water Commission (CWC), irrigation, revenue, fishing department, Sarpanches and community leaders,” said Superintendent of Police K. Pratap Shiva Kishhore.
The police were instructed to regularly collect collisions updates, water levels in Bhadrachalam, Taliper’s drain and data on the CHHATTISGARH and Maharashtra river basins.
Papikondal Tour suspended
Due to the growing water level, the popular tour of the papikondal was temporarily suspended, confirmed Polavram DSP M. Venkateswara Rao. Fishermen and locals were warned against the river in rural boats. The control rooms along the jacket river actively follow the movement of ships and the situation in vulnerable areas.
“At the recent meeting of readiness for the flood, we checked the availability of ships, deployment of professional swimmers, strengthening the river, organizing sand bags, readiness Cyclone Shelter, medical teams and patrols susceptible to floods,” said Sp.
Currently, the level of the Flood Godavari reached 28 meters in the Polavaram project, with almost two CUSECS released downstream. Although there is no immediate threat to Mandals, it was recommended that residents move to safer places in low -laid areas.
