On Sunday (March 30), the Bepore police confiscated 6,000 liters of alleged illegal diesel to the port Beypore. A tanker used to transport a smuggled smuggler was also confiscated. The police said the fuel was found that it was falsified during preliminary inspection.
“We took the vehicle driver’s custody. The shares were brought here from the illegal center in the Malappuram district. It was the second such incident in Kozhikode,” said the head of the policeman, who was part of the inspection team. He said that mixed fuel used only for industrial purposes was sold for boat operators at a cheaper rate.
Police sources said the investigation was carried out to zero on other suspicious retailers and collection centers. Police support in Malappuram would be supplied to continue the probe.
The local fisherman said that the offer of fake fuel was reportedly operated by Gujarat dealers. He said the police watched illegal shares on the basis of confidential complaints filed by some local fishermen from Beypore.
