Railway protection (RPF) confiscated a 29 kg Ganja shipment in Hatia-SMVT Bengaluru SuperFast Express at Jolarpet Station in Tirupattura on Tuesday.
The police said the RPF police team performed surprising checks on the trains at the station under the security measures. The express train, which was on the way to Chennai, stopped at the station. The team searched the express train coaches, where they found two abandoned hiking bags in a general compartment. When they opened the bag, they found around 16 packages that contained 29 kg of Ganja.
The initial investigation revealed that a gang of four people fell at the station after they noticed that the team of police staff had noticed the train to search the coaches. They left the shipment and fled from the place. The case was registered by Jolarpet RPF. The police also analyzed the CCTV shots to charge the gang, which was allegedly involved in Ganja smuggling. The probe is running.
