The Hyderabad City Police has invoked the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against six men involved in the premeditated killing of CPI state councilor and tribal leader Kethavath Chandu Rathad at the Shalivahana Nagar GHMC park in Malakpet on July 15, 2025, as part of what officials termed a decisive move to maintain law and order.
The accused are Donthi Rajesh (48), Kumba Yedukondalu (35), Atmakuri Srinu (45), Kandukuri Prashanth (30), Arjun Gnana Prakash (26) and Lingibedi Rambabu (30).
The preventive detention orders were issued by Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar and executed by Malakpet ACP K. Subbarami Reddy under the supervision of South East Zone DCP S. Chaitanya Kumar with the support of the Malakpet Police Team.
In a separate case, the Preventive Detention Act was also invoked against Syed Abdul Basith (23), a habitual offender involved in several cases of sexual assault of minors in Madannapet and Dabeerpura areas within a year. The orders were issued by the commissioner and executed by the South East zone team with the help of Dabeerpura police.
Police said both actions reflect the department’s continued focus on curbing habitual and violent offenders who pose a threat to public safety, particularly juveniles.
