The Andhra Pradesh police will organize a survey of migrating workers at the level of village, mandala, division and districts. The survey is in response to a warning issued by the center for illegal immigrants after the terrorist attack of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to sources, AP has more than five lamps from Western Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and other states. They work in agriculture, meals, hotels and restaurants, spinning mills, sand quarries, aqua, brick furnaces, construction, decorations and other industries.
In an interview with the Hindu General Police Inspector (IGP-LUUR series) GVG Ashok Kumar said they were given instructions to organize a survey of migrating workers staying in villages. “Police verify the Aadhaar cards of workers; their native state or countries; companies employ them; the duration of their stay in AP; whether they stay separately or with families; if they are involved in any cases, and other details,” he said.
“Intelligence, working group, district security wing, special branch, news and police in law and order were entrusted to conduct the survey,” said the intelligence officer on condition of anonymity.
Eluru Superintendent of Police K. Pratap Shiva Kishhore said the police are organizing a survey without disturbing the public.
According to West Godavari Superintendent of Police Adnan Nayeem Asmi, the police will visit villages, communicate with workers, collect details of agents that organized work for them and verify their identification documents.
