The Minister of Water Resources Nimmala Ramanaidu informed the legislative council on Friday that a total of 96,660 families of the projects (PDF) from 373 dwellings would be rehabilitated as part of the Polavaram irrigation project.
The Minister answered the question asked by Kumbha Ravibab, and stated that the rehabilitation process was launched in two phases. Under the phase I, which covers up to +41.15 meters outline, 38,060 families were to be displaced, while in phase II, coverage above +41.15 meters and up to +45.72 meters, 58,600 families would affect.
Mr. Ramanaida said that in phase I the compensation of rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) was provided to 38,060 families. So far, compensation has been paid to 19,953 families, of which 9,220 belonging to the planned tribes, 2,639 planned castes and 8,094 from other categories.
He also stated that housing land was assigned to 18,964 recipients in the phase I, of them, 9,960 strains were planned tribes, 2,314 planned castes and 6,690 other categories.
The Minister assured the Council that the government has committed to completing the rehabilitation process according to the instructions approved for the project.
