Poet R. Mohan dies

Poet and cultural activist R. Mohan died here on Wednesday (September 9, 2026) evening. He was 73.

A native of Alappuzha district, he lived in Kozhikode for many years. Mohan’s articles and poems appeared in Malayalam periodicals. He was well known in the cultural forums of Kozhikode for performing Cholkkazhcha, a Malayalam poem recital performance with acting and visual expressions. Recently his collection of poems Urumbukalkku Olithawalangal Venda was published.

Mohan also worked as a teacher and journalist for a while. He is survived by his wife Prabhavathi and daughters Sithara and Nagina. The final rites will take place at the Mavoor Road crematorium on Thursday morning.
