
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his Mauritian counterpart Navinchandra Ramgoolam on Thursday in his parliamentary constituency before a bilateral interview between two leaders.
Both leaders warmly welcomed and shook their hands, as shown in the pictures.

Previously, in the middle of the sound of drums and shells, Modi’s convoy entered the city around 11:30. At several intersections along the route, the leaders of BJP, workers and local residents lined up to welcome it and sing “Har Har Mahadev”. In some places, people shower the flower petals, while several of them also see that they were carrying Mauriti flags.

The Prime Minister landed at Babatpur Airport from Delhi, where he was admitted by the Governor Uttar Pradesh Ananiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
From there he continued to the police lines Varanasi before driving by car to the Hotel Taj, instead of his planned bilateral meeting with the Maurit Prime Minister.
According to an official statement, Modi and Ramgololam are expected to discuss key matters of bilateral cooperation with a special focus on development partnerships and capacities.
He added that they also explore cooperation in health, education, science and technology, energy and infrastructure, as well as developing domains such as renewable energy, digital public infrastructure and blue economy.
The visit is based on the momentum generated by a state visit to Mauritius in March 2025, during which both leaders elevated the relationship to a “strengthened strategic partnership”.
Ramgooom arrived in Varanasi on Wednesday and was accepted by the Governor of Patel and Minister of Finance Suresh Khanna. On Thursday evening he is scheduled to visit the gangs “Aarti” and visit Kashi Vishwanath on Friday morning before leaving.

The BJP manager said it was the first bilateral meeting of the Prime Minister with the head of state in Kashi. Modi formerly hosted French President Emmanuel Macron in 2018 and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in 2022 in Varanasi, but it was not a formal bilateral meeting.

The visit is based on a positive dynamics generated by a state visit to PM Modi on Mauritius in March 2025, during which both leaders increased the bilateral relation to an “improved strategic partnership”.
As a respected partner and a close naval neighbor in the Indian Ocean region, Mauritius is the key to the Indian vision of Mahasagar (mutual and holistic progress for security and growth across the region) and the “neighborhood of the first”.

From Varanasi to Dehradun
The Prime Minister will travel to Dehradun, where around 16:15 will conduct an aerial survey of areas affected by the floods in Uttarakhand. Around 5 pm he will be chaired by a high -level revision meeting with officials.
