Russian President Putin’s message published Kremlin praised Prime Minister Modi for his contribution to “strengthening the special and privileged strategic partnership between India and Russia”.
It read: “You rightly enjoy deep respect from your countrymen and great authority on the global stage. Your personal contribution to strengthening the special and privileged strategic partnership between India and Russia cannot be overstated.”
Putin expressed gratitude “for the warm and cordial welcome and hospitality extended to me and the Russian delegation during my visit to New Delhi last week”, during the BRICS 2026 summit.
He said the conversations we had were “undoubtedly substantive, honest and productive.”
“As always, it was a real pleasure to speak with you and our discussions once again demonstrated your extraordinary political wisdom and foresight,” Putin’s message read.
“We will, of course, continue constructive cooperation on urgent bilateral and international issues for the benefit of our friendly nations,” added the Russian leader.
Prime Minister Modi and President Putin held bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit and discussed closer trade ties, including the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Economic Cooperation, as well as cooperation in infrastructure, energy, technology, defense and culture.
Embassies of Vietnam, Netherlands, Nepal wish PM Modi
Embassies of Vietnam, Netherlands and Nepal in India on Thursday greeted Prime Minister Modi on his 76th birthday and wished him good health, happiness and further success.
In a post on X, the Embassy of Vietnam in India expressed its “warmest birthday wishes” to Prime Minister Modi and expressed the country’s desire to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
The post said: “Warmest birthday wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We wish him good health, happiness and continued success and look forward to further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and India.”
Embassy Netherlands for India, Nepal and Bhutan also wished Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday and highlighted the recent strengthening of bilateral relations between India and the Netherlands.
In a post on X, the embassy said: “Happy Birthday to Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the Kingdom of the Netherlands! The signing of our strategic partnership during Prime Minister Modi’s recent visit to the Netherlands in May 2026 elevated our existing bilateral cooperation and continued to grow and strengthen our ties.”
Embassy Nepal in India also greeted Prime Minister Modi on his birthday and expressed hope that the long-standing friendship between Nepal and India would continue to deepen.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was born on 17 September 1950 to Hirab and Damodardas Modi in Vadnagar, Mehsana district of Gujarat.
On 26 May 2014, Narendra Modi was sworn in as the Prime Minister of India, becoming the first Prime Minister to be born after India gained independence.
