Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (March 20, 2026) spoke to King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain and condemned the attacks on energy and civilian infrastructure in the region while discussing the current situation in West Asia.
During a telephone conversation with the King of Bahrain, the Prime Minister reiterated the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation and keeping shipping lines open and safe.
“I had a fruitful discussion with the King of Bahrain, His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa. He sent warm greetings to him and the people of Bahrain on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

“We discussed the current situation in the West Asian region. We condemned attacks on energy and civil infrastructure in the region and highlighted their adverse impact on global food, fuel and fertilizer security,” Mr Modi said in a post on X.
The Prime Minister also thanked the King for his continued support for the welfare of the Indian community in Bahrain.
He had a fruitful discussion with the King of Bahrain, His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa. He conveyed warm greetings to him and the people of Bahrain on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

It was the second time Modi had spoken to the king of Bahrain since the US and Israel attacked Iran on February 28. The Islamic Republic also retaliated by attacking several of its neighbors in the Persian Gulf.
Since the beginning of the conflict, the prime minister has also spoken to several other world leaders, including those from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, France, Malaysia, Israel and Iran.
