PM Modi takes call from Armenia PM, thanks him for help in evacuating Indians from Iran

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (June 24, 2026) received a phone call from his Armenian counterpart Nikola Pashinjan, thanking him for facilitating the evacuation of Indian citizens stranded in Iran following recent developments in West Asia.
Mr. Modi also congratulated Mr. Pashinyan on the victory of his Civilian Contract Party in the country’s parliamentary elections and said that India looked forward to working closely together to take India-Armenia relations to new heights.
“Earlier today I was pleased to receive a call from Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. He congratulated him and his party on the victory in the recently held parliamentary elections in Armenia,” he said in a post on ‘X’.
Mr. Modi said he thanked the Armenian Prime Minister for facilitating the evacuation of Indian citizens stranded in Iran following recent developments in West Asia.
“We reaffirmed our joint commitment to further strengthen our warm and multilateral partnership across key sectors, including trade, defence, technology and people-to-people relations. We look forward to working closely to take India-Armenia relations to new heights,” he said.
In a message on June 8, Mr Modi congratulated Mr Pashinyan on his party’s victory in the country’s parliamentary elections.
Prime Minister Pashinyan declared victory in the general election as preliminary results showed his ruling Civilian Party came first with 49.81% of the vote.
