US President Donald Trump has officially announced a Gaza ‘Board of Peace’ structure to ‘implement’ POTUS’ 20-point plan for the war-torn country as part of his phase two element of the plan to end the conflict in the Palestinian Territory.
The committee, chaired by Trump himself and made up of seven other members, is supposed to oversee the administration and reconstruction of post-war Gaza.
“I am very honored to announce that the PEACE COUNCIL has been created,” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform last week.
“I can say with certainty that this is the largest and most prestigious council that has ever been assembled at any time, anywhere,” Trump said.
What is Trump’s Gaza “Peace Council”?
The Gaza “peace council” announced by Donald Trump will have a three-tiered structure – with a board of billionaires and figures close to Israel sitting at the top.
The White House said there will be a main council, a Palestinian committee of technocrats to govern the war-torn territory, and a second “executive council” that appears to play a more advisory role.
PM Modi invited to Gaza Peace Council
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among the leaders from around the world invited by US President Donald Trump to the Gaza Peace Council.
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor shared Trump’s invitation letter to PM Modi to join the board.
Gor said on X: “Honored to extend @POTUS invitation to Prime Minister @narendramodi to participate in Peace Council to bring lasting peace to Gaza. Council will promote effective governance to achieve stability and prosperity!”
In the letter, Trump wrote: “It is my great honor to invite you as Prime Minister of the Republic of India to join me in a critically historic and monumental effort to consolidate peace in the Middle East while embarking on a bold new approach to global conflict resolution!
