Prime Minister Narendra Modi devoured traditional snacks originating from Chhattisgarh during the 9th annual ‘Pariksha pe Charcha’. The prime minister tasted a savory besan snack called thethri, which is usually eaten on the occasion of Diwali.
Comparing thethri to another regional delicacy called chakli, PM Modi said, “It is known as chakli in Maharashtra.
After tasting thethri, PM Modi enjoyed another local delicacy called khurmi. A student who offered a box full of this special sweet said that this local dish consists of gur (jaggery), atta (flour) and suji (semolina). In the video clip, PM Modi is seen offering refreshments to all the students present.
Apart from learning about the local refreshments, PM Modi addressed the queries of the students and interacted with them during a special episode of ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’. When a student from Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur asked Prime Minister Modi to suggest five destinations for students to travel in India, he advised them to first make a list of places near their district, city and state and then decide.
He advised the students to first explore the localities and then expand their reach. He encouraged students to learn through an experiential approach and make every trip a learning experience. “India is so rich in culture that one may feel that its life is not enough to explore all the diversity,” PM Modi remarked.
Responding to a question regarding limited revision time during exam days, PM Modi said one should believe in oneself, give up worry and stress and trust in the capacity of one’s brain to retain information. He persuaded students to support fellow students struggling to cope with academics. By teaching the co-mothers and explaining the topics, they would indirectly master the given subject and gain better knowledge of the subject.
“Zindagi khel hone se bachana hai to zindagi me khel hona chahiye,” PM Modi said as he emphasized the importance of balancing sports with studies and proposed the mantra “Khelogey to khilogey”.
When PM Modi was asked about the qualities of a leader, he urged the students to be “nidar” (fearless). He said that leadership is not about running for election or joining a political party, but about understanding people and leading them.
What did PM Modi say about artificial intelligence?
On artificial intelligence (AI), PM Modi said, “We should not become slaves to technology… We must expand our potential through technology… We need not fear AI.” He added, I am glad that the students in my country are imagining the year 2047… If we want to become a developed country, we must align our customs with it.”
