
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the venue of the G-20 summit in Johannesburg, South Africa on Saturday, November 22. PM Modi and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni were all smiles as they shook hands and greeted each other.
PM Modi was received by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa when he arrived at the venue, Nasrec Expo Centre.
This is the first G20 summit to be held in Africa. The African Union became a member of the G20 during India’s chairmanship in 2023.
G20 Summit – Who is attending?
Representatives of the G20 countries meet throughout the year to discuss pressing issues. In November, leaders meet for an annual summit.
From Chinese President Xi Jinping to French President Emmanuel Macron – 42 countries and organizations confirmed their participation on Monday, Al Jazeera reported – citing South African officials.
US President Donald Trump will not be absent from the summit – amid a boycott by the POTUS, who claimed the host country mistreated white people.

PM Modi’s bilateral meeting with Australian PM
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in a bilateral meeting in Johannesburg on Friday ahead of the 20th G20 Leaders’ Summit.
During the meeting, the Albanians expressed their condolences over the terrorist attack in Red Fort and the bus crash in Saudi Arabia, in which several Indian Umrah pilgrims lost their lives.
