These bridges are part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla railway legacy project in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Chenab railway bridge is part of the Katra-Do-Sangaldan section, which will connect the new Delhi directly with Kashmir via Katra. With a height of 359 meters for the first time in history, the Kashmir Valley will officially connect with the rest of India through the railway network.
The project encountered various engineering and logistics challenges due to demanding terrain and sensitivity to seismic activity in the region.
