Bengaluru’s long waiting for the yellow line Namma Metro finally ended on Sunday, because Prime Minister Narendra Modi started a 19.15 km corridor and combined RV Road with Bommasandra.
With that, the network of metro in the city rose to 96 km. The Bengaluru Metro is currently the second largest metro net in the country on the Delhi Metro, which covers 353.3 km.
The Prime Minister also described Vande Bharat Express between Bengalur and Belagavi, along with two other Vande Bharat services that were launched practically.
The yellow line, the key connection of the metro connecting the city IT center in the electronic city and is expected to significantly alleviate traffic jams in narrow places, such as the intersection of the silk council, was plagued by delay since construction in 2017. 2021.
However, non-maintenance, including lengthy land acquisition, disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemies and delay in the supply of rolling from the Chinese manufacturer CRRC Nanjing, pushed the timeline by almost four years.
Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) expects that the yellow line will carry over 2.5 lakh passengers a day as soon as the full fleet of trains is delivered and functional. The corridor integrates with the main metro lines at key intersections: RV Road (Green Line), Jayadeva Hospital (pink line) and central silk plate (Blue line, phase 2a and 2b).
According to officials, the maximum fare will be on the yellow line that will start income services from Monday, 60 GBP.
Packed schedule of PM
Mr. Modi arrived at Bengalur on Sunday morning at the Airport Hal and then traveled by helicopter to Indian Air Force command in the city, where he was accepted by Governor Thaawwarchand Gehlot and Chief Minister Siddaraiaha. His first stop was Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna (KSR) in Majestice, where he called three Vande Bharat Express, Bengalur – Belagavi, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra -amritsar and Nagpur (Ajni).
With the launch of Bengaluru – Belagavi Vande Bharat Express now Karnataka hosts 11 Vande Bharat Services. The new train covers 611 km in just 8 hours and 30 minutes, shortens the travel time by about 1 hour and 20 minutes from KSR Bengalur to Belagavi and about 1 hour and 40 minutes on the way back, which is a faster and more convenient option compared to existing trains.
After the event, the Prime Minister proceeded to the Ragigudd metro station to start the yellow line. There he marked the inauguration service, tried QR code sales vending machines and joined the metro in Electronics City.
In an interview with Hindu, BMRCL official said the train was piloted by a female locomo pilot. “Schoolchildren, metro officials and some of the public were also on board and Mr. Modi communicated with them during the journey,” the official said.
Phase 3 namma metro
At the end of his ride by metro to the Infosys Foundation Konappana Agrahara Metro Station, Prime Minister went to the IIIT auditorium in the electronic city of Phase 1. There he laid the foundation stone for phase 3 of the Namma Metro, also known as Orange Line, and addressed the assembly.
Stage 3 will be fully increased and is planned to serve insufficiently operated areas along the Magadi Road and the western part of the outer circular road. After completion in 2029, it is assumed to hold 7.85 Lakh commuting daily and, according to BMRCL officials, extend the BENGALUR metro network to 222.2 km. The project cleaned all mandatory obstacles and in August 2024 received the approval of the Union’s cabinet.
