Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Sunday that China and India are two of the oldest civilizations in the east and key voices in the global south. He met Prime Minister Narendra Modim on the edge of the Summit of the Organization for Cooperation in Shanghai (SCO).
The PM Modi is in China for the first time in seven years to participate in a two -day SCO summit, which includes a leader from Russia, Central Asia, South and Southeast Asia and Western Asia, reflecting the uniform front of the global south.

The Chinese President said, “China and India are two ancient civilizations in the east. We are the two most populous countries in the world and we are also important members of the global south. We both bear historical responsibility to improve the well -being of our two nations, supported solidarity and rejuvenation of developing countries and promoted the progress of human society.”
The two -sided meeting between PM Modi and President Xi Jinping came only five days after the United States had stored a steep 50% of tariffs on Indian goods over the continuing import of Russian oil of the new Dill.

He also stressed that for both countries the right choice is “friends who have good neighboring and friendly ties, partners who allow each other success and to combine the dragon and elephant.”
During the interviews Modi noted that the feeling of “peace and stability” returned to the disputed Himalayan border.
India and China have recently taken a few steps to smooth their bilateral relationship, including the restoration of trade through the passage of Lipulekh in Uttarakhand, Shipki La Pass in Himachal Pradesh and Natha La Pass in Sikkim.
During a visit to the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi 18th August and 19th August, both parties agreed to restore the direct interconnection of flight between the Chinese mainland and India and complete the updated Air Service Agreement. They also agreed to facilitate visas for tourists, businesses, media and other visitors in both directions.

Meanwhile, the summit of Shanghai Cooperation (SCO) at Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center in Tianjin will begin. After the welcome ceremony and taking pictures, the leaders will participate in the reception and concert.
SCO includes 10 members. In addition to India, Belarus, China, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan include. There are also several dialogue partners and observers. India has been a member of the SCO since 2017 and has been an observer since 2005. During the summit, it is also planned for PM Modi to plan to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
