Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, November 27, 2025, hosted the Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team, which recently won the inaugural Blind Women’s World Cup T20 on November 23, 2025, at his Lok Kalyan Marg residence.
Footage shared by news agency ANI showed Prime Minister Modi on Thursday congratulating the entire blind women’s cricket team with a plate of laddoos and a photo op to mark their success after the team defeated Nepal in the final.
PM Modi’s wishes to the cricket team
In a social media post on 24 November 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team for a historic achievement after winning the Blind Women’s World Cup T20.
PM Modi highlighted how the team made a huge mark in the sport after going unbeaten in the T20 series. Modi also said that this achievement is a shining example of how the hard work, teamwork and determination of every player has paid off.
“Congratulations to the Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team for creating history by winning the inaugural Blind Women’s World Cup T20! What is more commendable is the fact that they remained undefeated in the series. It is truly a historic sporting achievement, a shining example of hard work, teamwork and determination,” PM Modi said in his post on the X platform.
Modi also said that every player is a champion and his wishes go to the entire team in all their future endeavors to inspire generations to come.
Blindfold T20 World Cup final shot
Mint had earlier reported how India’s blind women’s cricket team led by Deepika TC was dominant throughout the T20 season. The Indian bowlers restricted the Nepal team to 114 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs.
The heavy dominance of the Indian bowlers resulted in the Nepali team being able to manage only one boundary in their entire innings.
Phula Saren led the Indian team to victory as he was unbeaten on 44 runs as the entire Indian team successfully chased down the target in just 12 overs with the loss of 3 wickets. A great performance was also performed by Karuna K, who drove 42 runs for the republic.
Earlier in the semi-finals of the T20 season, India defeated Australia while Pakistan lost to Nepal.
