
On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed Trinidad and Tobago on Friday during his two -day visit to the Caribbean nation. He also received the “Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago” and became the first foreign leader to be awarded the prestigious price.
During his address, PM Modi spoke about democracy, Indian growth, bilateral ties, the importance of strengthening the position of women and deep ties with Indian diaspora.

Democracy is a way of life
PM Modi stressed that democracy for Indians is a way of life rooted in a rich heritage. He noticed ancestors of many Bihar deputies, known for his ancient republics.
“For us, Indians, democracy is not just a political model, but about the way of life. We have a rich heritage lasting thousands of years. Many deputies have their ancestors from Bihar, the home of the Mahajanpads – ancient Republic,” PM Modi said.

India always prefers global south
PM nor, who emphasized the growth and priorities of India, quoted, and said, “India is the fastest growing main economy in the world. We see our development as our responsibility to others and our priority will always be a global south …”
Terrorism
PM Modi repeated the need to oppose terrorism. “We must become united to deny terrorism any shelter or space.”
His statement comes months after a deadly hit terrorist attack on April 22, 2025, which claimed 26 lives.

On strengthening the position of women
In a speech with the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago, PM Modi emphasized the importance of women and emphasizes their significant contributions to the development of India in various fields and strengthens cultural respect for women in India.
PM Modi said, “I am pleased to see so many women in this house. Respect of women is deeply rooted in Indian culture. One of our important saints, a Shroch Puran, says that one daughter brings as much happiness as ten sons.”
He also added: “We strengthen the hands of women who build our modern India. From universe to sports, starting with science branches, education for business, aviation to armed forces – lead India to a new future in different areas.”

O Indian passion for cricket
PM Modi said that the Indians are passionate fans of the cricket team of West India, which, throughout the heart, supports them, except for matches against India.
“I have to say that the Indians are among the most passionate fans of the cricket team of West India. We are fading them with all our hearts, except when they play against India,” PM Modi said.
PM Modi said, “180 years ago, the first Indians arrived on this country along a long and hard road, oceans away. Indian rhythms mixed beautifully with the Caribbean rhythm … from politics to poetry, cricket to trade – contribute to each field …”
