PM Modi confers top honors on Indonesia as two countries sign agreements on critical supply chain, BrahMos | Today’s news

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a grand ceremonial welcome on Tuesday as he arrived for talks with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, with several outcomes announced.

Prime Minister Modi, who arrived in Indonesia on Monday, began the first leg of his three-nation tour aimed at further strengthening India’s Act East Policy, MAHASAGAR Vision and the country’s commitment to a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific.

Here is the list of announced results

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), several major announcements have been made from Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Indonesia.

  1. In a major boost to New Delhi’s election management model, India will help Indonesia develop country-specific electronic voting machines (EVMs).

2. Further, following New Delhi’s demonstrated success in air-to-air missile capability during Operation Sindoor, Jakarta will import India’s Astra missiles.

3. To strengthen the critical supply chain of minerals, India will invest in the production of steel, nickel and rare earth permanent magnets in Indonesia.

4. Jakarta is also planning to expand its BrahMos inventory and sources indicate that New Delhi will support this by providing more batteries.

5. The two countries are also planning to jointly develop Sabang Port, which overlooks the Malacca Strait and is 100 miles away from India’s Great Nicobar Port project.

Indonesia bestows highest honor on Prime Minister Modi

Subianto announced on Tuesday that Indonesia has conferred its highest honour, the “Bintang Adipurna Medal of the Republic of Indonesia”, on Prime Minister Modi. After receiving the prestigious honor, Prime Minister Modi dedicated it to India, saying, “This morning I was conferred with Indonesia’s highest honor with great affection and respect. This honor belongs to millions of Indians; it reflects the sentiments of the Indonesian people and the historic, deep-rooted ties between our two nations. My heartfelt thanks to President Prabowo and the Government of Indonesia here.”

Indonesia’s highest award, the Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna, was established in 1959 and represents the pinnacle of civilian and military recognition reserved for people who have demonstrated exceptional determination to protect the country’s greatness, news agency ANI reported.

A new golden chapter begins today: PM Modi

Prime Minister Modi on Tuesday highlighted the deepening bilateral cooperation between India and Indonesia, calling the growing partnership a “new golden chapter” that holds significant promise for the 21st century. At a joint press conference, Prime Minister Modi expressed his gratitude to Subianto for the warm hospitality and the award of Indonesia’s highest civilian award, the “Bintang Adipurna”. He said, “First of all, I would like to thank my friend, President Prabowo, for the magnificent welcome.”

He further said, “I am confident that a new golden chapter in India-Indonesia bilateral relations will begin from today,” PM Modi said, adding that the strengthened bond will have a positive impact on the 21st century and the entire humanity.

Highlighting the rapid growth of bilateral relations, Prime Minister Modi said India-Indonesia relations have gained new momentum, greater trust and deeper engagement in recent years. He added that the comprehensive strategic partnership, established in 2018, continues to achieve new milestones across sectors.
