
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Ghana on Wednesday and in 30 years he became the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the West African country. PM Modi is on a two -day visit, during which he will talk to the best country leadership and review a strong bilateral partnership.
President John Dramani Maham received PM Narendra Modi when he arrived at the International Airport in Kotoka. PM Modi was also dedicated to the honorary guard together with the 21-Gun.
This is the first bilateral visit to Ghana. It is also the first visit to Prime Minister from India to Ghana in three decades.
In his statement on the departure of PM Modi, Ghana described as a “respected partner in the global south”, which plays an important role in the African Union and the economic community of West African states.
The Prime Minister added that he was looking forward to interviews aimed at further deepening the historical ties of both countries and opening new windows of cooperation, including the areas of investment, energy, health, security, capacities and development partnerships.
“As colleagues from democracy, Ghana will speak in parliament,” PM Modi said.
Modi’s visit to Ghana
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), PM Modi will encounter President Ghana to review a strong bilateral partnership and explore ways to further strengthen him by cooperation in the economic, energy and defensive sectors.
This visit will reaffirm the shared obligation of both countries to deepen bilateral ties and strengthen the involvement of India with Ecowas (the economic community of the West African states) and the African Union, she added.
After spending two days in Ghana, PM Modi traveled to Trinidad and Tobago on a two -day visit from 3 to 4 July. In the third stage of his visit he will visit PM Modi from 4 to 5 July.
In the fourth stage of his visit Modi, he travels to Brazil to attend the 17th Summit Brics followed by a state visit. In the last stage of his visit, Modi will travel to Namibia.
