The Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Friday (July 4, 2025), which was awarded the “Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago” – the country’s highest civil honor.
Mr. Modi, who is on a two-day visit to the Caribbean island nation at the second stage of his five state tour, was awarded a prize for recognition of his global leadership, his deep engagement with Indian diaspora and his humanitarian effort during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“It is an honor to be granted the” Order of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago “. I accept it on behalf of 140 Indians Crore, ”said Mr. Modi.
The prize was announced by Trinidad and Prime Minister Tobago Kamla Persad-Bissesar on Thursday, who described Mr. Modi’s visit as a moment of shared pride and historical connection.
This is the first visit to Mr. Modi as Prime Minister and the first Indian bilateral visit at the level of Prime Minister in Trinidad and Tobag since 1999.
Mr. Modi arrived in Trinidad and Tobago of Ghana, where he was awarded “officer of the Order of the Star Ghana”, the national honor of the country.
The prize was awarded to the Prime Minister as a recognition of his “significant state proceedings and influential global leadership”, said the Ministry for External Affairs (MEA).
