The Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded the highest civil award on Tuesday (July 8, 2025), a large collar of the National Order of the South Cross.
The honor was presented by Brazilian President Luiz Lula Da Silva, as recognition of significant contributions to PM Modi to strengthen bilateral relations and strengthen cooperation in India in Brazil across key global platforms.
“Being honored by the highest National Prize in Brazil today is a moment of immense pride and emotion, not only for me, but also for 140 Crore Indians,” Modi said during a joint press release with Lula’s conversations at the delegation level.
“I express my sincere gratitude (President Lula), the Brazilian government and the people of Brazil,” he said.
This is the 26th International Honor awarded by PM Modim by a foreign government since in May 2014 it was taken over by the office.
