The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is an initiative of the Government of India that provides minimum income support to farmers up to ₹6000 per annum.
The objective of the program is to provide basic financial assistance to landowning farming families to procure various inputs, ensure proper crop health, achieve adequate yields and meet household needs.
Key Benefits of Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana
Under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana programme, eligible farm families can get a direct financial benefit ₹6000 per annum.
This amount will be paid in three equal installments ₹2,000 each, four months released into the accounts of the beneficiaries.
Who is eligible to apply for Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana
The program is inclusive and targets all land-owning farmer families with cultivable land registered in their names. These families are entitled to it.
However, certain exemptions apply to ensure that the benefits reach those who deserve them.
Certain categories of beneficiaries with higher economic status are expressly excluded, including:
- Institutional landowners are not eligible.
- Farmer families are excluded if one or more of their members fall into the following categories:
- Former and current holders of constitutional offices.
- Former or present Ministers, Ministers of State, Members of Parliament, Members of State Legislative Assemblies or Councils, Mayors of Municipal Corporations or Chairpersons of District Panchayats.
- All serving or retired officers and employees of the Central/State Government, their affiliated agencies, Public Sector Undertakings and Local Bodies (except Multi-tasking /Class IV/Group D employees)
- Pensioners receiving a monthly pension of ₹10,000 or more but Multi Tasking / Class IV / Group D employees are exempt.
- People who paid income tax in the last assessment year.
- Professionals such as doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants and architects are registered with professional bodies and practice their profession on the basis of practice.
Application Process for Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana
Step 1: VLE helps by filling the registration details of the farmer which includes area of residence, Aadhar number among others.
Step 2: The VLE will then fill in the details of the land as shown in the land ownership documents.
Step 3: Upload supporting documents like Land, Aadhar and Bank passbook.
Step 4: The applicant accepts the self-declaration and the form is saved.
Step 5: After saving the application, make payment through CSC ID.
Once the above steps are done, one can check their beneficiary status through Aadhaar number.

Applicants must have three basic prerequisites ready for registration which include Aadhaar Card, Landholding papers and Savings Bank Account.
