Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (April 14, 2026) inaugurated the six-lane Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, a ₹12,000 crore expressway project that is expected to reduce travel time between the two cities from five to six hours to around 2 to 2.5 hours.
The 213 km long controlled access corridor, which is now open for use, is expected to significantly improve regional connectivity and connect key cities including Baghpat, Baraut, Shamli and Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh before reaching Dehradun. It will also integrate with major national corridors, including the Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Katra and Delhi-Meerut highways.
