
A team of entrepreneurs joined a unique idea that was enlarged by non -profit organizations with an initial approach.
The trio recently released what they call “The Playbook for non -profit unicorn”. The playbook, basically a report, offers terrain lessons from non -profit organizations and claims that the Indian development sector is ready for its own technician infection point.

Non -profit unicorns are organizations that have a significant impact on a million people or 5 % of the target user base meaningfully, Varun Aggarwal, co -founder “Change Engine” and “The Playbook for non -profit unicorn”.
Aggarwal is Alumnus Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), which co -founded the business skills testing of the aspiring Minds, which was sold in 2019. The other co -founders are Shaubham Bansal, Iit Delhi and EPFL Swiss graduate; and Shailendra Nath Jha, entrepreneur and Indian School of Business (ISB).
Aggarwal spoke to Livemint about the idea of the game and why it matters. While gaming books for technological startups are abounding, he says there are no non -profit organizations focused on complex social problems.

Changing the engine is a first -class accelerator for non -profit organizations. It supports exceptional founders in building non-profit unicorn-organization, which can meaningfully affect a million lives, says Aggarwal.
A larger goal is to identify the founders with high potential through the accelerator program and to work closely to find the scaling lever, test them and set them to become a non -profit unicorn.
But why focus on scaling of non -profit organizations? Non -profit organizations operate where market failure occurs, says Aggarwal.
“India boasts 100+ unicorn – startups awarded more than $ 1b – who unlocked huge economic opportunities. These companies have transformed the sectors and put India into a global innovation map; we continue to fight with urgent challenges.

Although the public and business leaders often have not understood non -profit organizations, Aggarwal says they are critical activators of systemic changes and economic progress. He says that non -profit work has made many significant national transformations such as UPI, reduced infant mortality and easy business.

“We have 45-50%of children who do not achieve basic learning results, unemployment ranges to 7-8%, with only 51 percent of graduates are employable, and the participation of women’s workforce stagnates at 32%.
Shift
Therefore, the shift of thinking becomes essential, he says. Startups naturally look at the scale, but non -profit organizations do not do it naturally. Thanks to the concept of “non -profit unicorn”, we bring a new thought process. The aim is to induce the imagination between the founders and to accept the highest thinking to deal with systemic causes, ”says Aggarwal.
