
The game on Madrid Open was suspended on Monday after the extensive power outage hit the Spanish capital and forced 15. The seed Grigor Dimitrov and his British opponent Jacob Fearnley in court when the score darkened and lost much.
Round 32 matches at the Manolo Santana stadium, where Dimitrov led Fearnley 6-4 5-4, had to be stopped because Spidercam remained too close to the court.
The fourth Coco Gauff seed, which defeated Belinda Bencic 6-4 6-2 to reach the quarterfinals, had its interview after the match at the Arantxa Sanchez stadium with the power of the microphone.
ATP also said electronic call systems on the line, while viewers shared pictures of dark corridors at the Manzanares Park tennis center.
“Two double matches and one double match at ATP Masters 1000 took place when energy was lost at 12:34 hours of local time,” ATP said on his official website.
Matteo Arnaldi, who upset Novak Djokovich on Saturday, was 6-3-2 against Darir Dzumhur when a 32 match was stopped.
“We are working as soon as possible to restore normality,” Madrid’s open account on X.
Local media said the power outage also influenced traffic lights, some airports and part of Madrid Underground. The Spanish Power Grid Red Electrica operator said it is working with energy companies to restore energy.
