Tiruchi S. Gnanesware Rao, Director of the Airport, said on Friday that the plans would soon be entered at the airport to the international courier cost terminal.
The discussion would be immediately held about whether this should be operated and maintained by AAI Cargo Logistics and Allied Services Company Ltd. Or through the PPP regime (partnership of the public and private sector) to start the Courier Terminal Terminal, Rao said.
A permission would have to be obtained from the Civil Aviation Authority (BCAS) and BCA officials would see the facility at Tiruch airport to prove some approval, he said.
Mr. Gnaneswara Rao, who spoke to journalists at the airport after organizing a meeting with the parties, including courier cost agents at international courier freight operations.
Mr. Rao said on the start of the courier cost that, although the customs authorities gave their announcements for international courier operations, there were no customs agents.
“During the discussion, we learned that there were four agents who registered with the customs department. We got some feedback from the meeting and it would be with the AAICLAS authorities in Nový Delhi,” he said, adding that space is not a limitation of the courier cost terminal at the airport.
Mr. Rao said that agents were coming to provide consignments and therefore steps would be taken to start operations.
