Planning a trip to Thailand? Indian Embassy Says Carry ₹58,000 in Cash — New Checklist Here | Today’s news
The Indian Embassy in Bangkok has issued a new travel advisory for Indian nationals planning to visit Thailand, urging travelers to familiarize themselves with the country’s latest entry requirements before departure.
The notice issued on July 2 comes after Thailand ended the visa-free program for Indian passport holders. The embassy has outlined the documents travelers should carry, visa requirements and other important guidelines to help ensure a smooth immigration process upon arrival.
The embassy lists the documents that travelers should carry
According to the recommendation, Indian travelers must have a passport that remains valid for at least six months from the date of arrival in Thailand.
Visitors were also advised to keep confirmed return tickets, hotel reservations and a clear travel itinerary readily available as immigration authorities may require verification of these documents upon entry.
In addition, all passengers are required to complete a Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) within 72 hours prior to arrival. The form must be submitted through the Thai immigration portal and will generate a QR code that may be required at immigration checks.
Cash requirement of 20,000 THB for some travelers
The embassy also reminded visitors to obtain the appropriate visas according to the purpose of their trip.
It further stated that travelers entering Thailand under visa-free or visa-on-arrival (VOA) provisions should carry at least THB 20,000 (approx. ₹57,446) in cash per passenger.
The advisory noted that Thai immigration officials may ask visitors to provide proof of sufficient funds when processing their entry into the country.
Embassy warns jobseekers against using tourist entry
This notice contains a separate warning for Indian nationals traveling to Thailand for employment.
According to the embassy, those who have already secured a job offer should not use the Visa Waiver or Visa on Arrival facility. Instead, they should obtain the appropriate visas prior to travel, as entering Thailand as a tourist for employment may violate local immigration regulations.
Advice for transit passengers
The embassy also issued guidelines for travelers transiting through Thailand.
Passengers have been advised to carry all documents required for their onward journey, including confirmed onward tickets and any visas required for their final destination.
