The state government approved a proposal to divide the Udayagiri police station in Mysuru at Udayagiri North and Udayagiri South.
The government decision is followed by a proposal submitted in this respect by the CEO and General Police Inspector in April 2025. The Government Order of 20 June stated that the approval on Thursday followed the financial department.
In the proposal, the CEO and CEO of the police tried to divide the jurisdiction of the Udayagiri police station into the Udayagiri North and Udayagiri South Police Station by the main road Mahadevapura as the border.
While the current Udayagiri police station located on the main road Mahadevapura is proposed to be converted to Udayagiri South Police Station, the new building for the Udayagiri North police station can be built on civic equipment (CA) No – 07 measuring 29×36 meters in Devanur 1st.
The jurisdiction of the Udayagiri police station established in 1994 after it was separated from the Nazarbad police station limits, including areas that are “communally sensitive”.
“Over the past 26 years, the region has witnessed various criminal activities, municipal unrest, inter -trade and inter -religious conflicts, serious crimes such as murders and attempts to murder, theft, and a change in election scenarios that led to pressure on UDayagiri police station,” he said.
Details of the number of criminal cases registered at the Udayagiri police station in the last three years, the proposal stated that in 2022 215 cases were registered, while 213 and 209 cases were registered in 2023 and 2024.
It was emphasized that the Udayagiri police station includes an important population of Hindus, Muslims and Christians with the presence of 78 mosques, 59 temples and nine churches.
“During religious festivals, URS and temple fairs, officials and staff from other police stations in the city had to be deployed to ensure law and order,” he said.
The main road Mahadevapura, which is considered to be the limit for the division of Udaygiri police station, is highly congested. The journey has mosques, bus compositions, bus stops, banks, schools, private financial institutions, ATMs, etc., except for vegetable shops, clothing stores, medical stores, hotels, masses stores, etc. “Both roads dominate both sides,” he said.
The path, which is a densely populated commercial section, connects not only the main roads and residential areas, but also the outer circular road, five km falls into the jurisdiction of the Udayagiri police station.
While the current population of Udaygiri police station is estimated to be 3.11 lakh, the proposed police station Udayagiri North will have 1.48 lakh people and the proposed police station Udayagiri South will have 1.62 lakh.
Employees approved at the Udayagiri South Police Station include one police inspector, four police inspectors, eight auxiliary subordinate inspectors, 24 main constables and 48 police constables. Similarly, the staff sanctioned at the Udayagiri North Police Station includes one police inspector, four sub-insectors, eight auxiliary inspectors, 24 main constables, 48 police constables, and two auxiliary police constacles.
The creation of two police stations carries estimated annual expenditure on CRORE 6.11 GBP and non -representing CRORE spending of 3.39 GBP, he added.
