
Railways’ earlier proposal to create a short railway connection connecting the KEVEGOWDA International Airport with the city of Bengaluru was canceled after the meeting of the participating parties. The authorities concluded that a separate railway line is not required, as the airport will already be delivered by metro and suburban rail network.
In February, the Minister of Railway Ashwini Vaishnaw announced a plan for a wider pressure on Demongest city. The proposal assumed the overflow of railway rail (Ror) and the 7.9 km border between Doděal and the airport with three stations.
Currently, the nearest railway station at Kia Halt Airport, located 3.5 km from the terminal. Bangalore International Airport Ltd. (Bial) operates free shuttles between stopping and terminal, synchronized with trains plans. Nevertheless, the number of passengers remains low because only limited train services are available on a two-track Yelahanka-Devanahalli corridor, which also use other trains at a distance.
Mukul Saran Mathur, CEO of South Western Railway, said the project was earmarked after discussions with the airport operator. “Given that the metro and suburban railway lines are already expanded at the airport, the addition of another railway line was considered unnecessary,” he said.
Meanwhile, work on Blue Line Namma Metro (KR PURAM – KIA). In addition, the K-Ride, which implements the suburban railway network Bengaluru, develops a Sampige line connecting KSR Bengaluru with Yelahanka and Devanahali and provides another way of accessing Bengalur airport passengers.
