Piyush Pandey, known as the father of Indian advertising, died on Friday (October 24, 2025) in Mumbai due to illness. Under his leadership, Ogilvy became India’s top advertising agency and gained a leading position in creativity. He was the first Jury President from Asia at the Cannes Lions Festival.
During his illustrious 40-year career, he received over 1,000 awards. Former Chief Creative Officer, Global and Executive Chairman of Ogilvy India, Mr. Pandey was known for breaking the dominance of Western influences in advertising in India by popularizing Hindi in ad films and slogans that caught the attention of the masses.
