The book called Pink Power, authored by Dr. Rajesh Goud, chief surgical oncologist and robotic surgeon at Yashoda Hospitals, was launched on Sunday (October 26) to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Telangana Women and Child Welfare Minister Seethakka and actor Sreeleela unveiled the book in the presence of Yashoda Group CEO GS Rao.
Written in simple and accessible language, the book aims to provide women with information on breast cancer screening, early warning signs, nutrition, exercise and holistic care during and after treatment. It will be available in several Indian languages.
Speaking at the launch, Minister Seethakka said breast cancer continues to be one of the most common cancers among women in India, accounting for nearly 27-32% of all cancers according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Cancer Registry Program (NCRP). “More than half of Indian women are only diagnosed at stage 3 or 4, when treatment is much more difficult. The main reason is lack of awareness and early detection. A resource like Pink Power will play an important role in helping women understand their bodies, recognize symptoms early and seek early care,” she said.
Mr. GS Rao, CEO, Yashoda Group of Hospitals, said the Cancer Center at Yashoda is equipped with the latest diagnostic and treatment technologies, including PET scanning and MR Linac systems that can detect tumors as small as a centimeter.
