With an aim to increase enrollment in government schools and pre-university (PU) colleges, the state government has decided to promote these institutions by installing billboards in public places for the first time.
Speaking to The Hindu on Wednesday, School Education and Literacy Minister Madhu Bangarappa said that admissions to government schools and PU colleges for 2026-27 have already started and they are working to improve enrolment.
“Just as private schools and colleges put up posters promoting their institutions, we will put up two posters per taluk and also at high traffic places like railway stations, bus stands etc. These posters will have all the facilities available in these institutions and in case of school programs for students. The posters can also feature high performing students from these institutions,” he said.
