PIB verifies Rajnath Singh’s AI deepfake video, blames ‘Pakistani propaganda accounts’ for misleading AI content | Today’s news
The Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) Fact Check account recently exposed a viral video of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh suggesting that it presented “false claims about Pakistan and the protests”. Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Center on Sunday issued a warning, warning social media users against “deep AI-generated fake video”.
Alleging that the aim of such Pakistani social media is to “mislead the public”, the PIB clarified that no such statement was made by the Defense Minister. In a post on X, PIB said: “Pakistani propaganda accounts are spreading fake video of defense minister @rajnathsingh making false claims about Pakistan and protests.
The authority even provided the original link to the video and urged the public to alert and report suspicious content related to the Government of India through the PIB Fact Check handle on X or WhatsApp at +91 8799711259. Informed citizens can also report sketchy content via email at factcheck@pib.gov.in.
The digitally altered video shows Rajnath Singh making strong claims, linking Pakistan to the CJP protests and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The original video clip shared by ANI shows Rajnath Singh addressing the public on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26.
Warning Pakistan against any future heinous act that threatens India’s sovereignty, Rajnath Singh said on Sunday: “Our brave soldiers have always displayed exceptional valor and courage. We recently celebrated the first anniversary of the success of Operation Sindoor. During the operation, our brave soldiers and officers gave the terrorists and their sadder patrons a befitting reply – one they will never forget in a far more brutal manner than India can imagine.” She informed ANI about it. He made this statement while addressing a gathering of several military officers, veterans and family members of Kargil war martyrs.
He added, “At this war memorial you will see the whole of India. Among these martyrs you will find names from Himachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu and all regions of the country. You will find the names of those who visited temples, mosques, gurdwaras and churches. Those who dream of breaking this country should look at this wall from India itself.”
President Droupadi Murmu, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, on Sunday paid tribute to the brave hearts of the 1999 Kargil War on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. A grand event was held at Dras in Ladakh, where Rajnath Singh laid a wreath at Shradhanjali Samaroh to the sound of bugles.
The highlight of the day was a spectacular airshow where three helicopters led by an advanced light helicopter formed an arrow formation. This aerial display was followed by two Cheetal planes showering flower petals to salute the troops.
