Promised protection and meaningful dialogue with Sri Lankan government through the Union government, the interests of fishermen from Tamil Nadu would be priority on Thursday, said Secretary General Aiadmk and former Chief Minister Edapadi K. Palaniswami.
In interacting with the leaders of fishermen and weavers, accompanied by former Minister and Aiadmk Mla RB Udayakumar, Mr. Palaniswami said that Aiadmk, if elected to power in the elections in 2026, would certainly take over the matter of fishermen with a trade union. “I assure that there will be a big change in your lives and we will find a lasting solution,” he said.
Fishermen in the country submitted a memorandum to the former main minister who assured them to look at their complaints.
The AIADMK government not only ordered the surrender of crops during the crisis due to natural disasters, but also helped farmers to acquire 540 GBP Crore through the requirements of insurance companies. Eligible farmers were given a three -phase power supply with 24 -hour electricity quality, he stressed.
The AIADMK government forced tanks and channels within a special scheme to set aside funds. Such was the obligation to the parties, Mr. Palaniswami said, and wanted fishermen to think of the situation now.
AIADMK proposed to set up a water system for a case of-Gundar for 14,400 GBP Crore and at that time preparatory work was started. DMK, however, put it in cold. He promised that AIADMK would revive an ambitious project and sought the support of farmers.
River interconnection scheme
In the last few days, a surplus of 1.24 Lakh Cusecs water from the mettur dam has been drained into the sea. If the Cauverry-Gundar scheme was made, this water could reach arid areas like the Ramanathapuram district, he said.
Weavers team companies generated in a large way due to innovative systems that launched (AIADMK), while calling for members to think about their current situation.
Later Mr. Palaniswami visited the palace of King Sethupathi, where he was accepted by Muthuramaling Nagendra Sethupathi and his mother Lakshmi Nachiar. He was taken around the palace and showed antiques. He was honored by the portrait of the late king.
