A pre-wedding photoshoot near the Bettada Bhairaveshwara temple in Karnataka, nearly 200 km from Bengaluru, turned violent after a group of photographers were allegedly attacked by local youths following a dispute over filming inside the temple premises, police said.
According to an NDTV report, the incident took place in Sakleshpur taluk of Hassan district, a region known for its scenic landscape and a popular location for pre-wedding shoots.
The couple arrived at the site along with photographers when a group of locals protested the shooting and accused them of wearing shoes inside the temple premises. The youths also reportedly questioned whether permission had been obtained to film at the location.
What began as a verbal altercation quickly escalated into a physical assault. One camera was also allegedly damaged in the clash. The injured photographers, identified as Navi and Nandan, were admitted to Sakleshpur Taluk Hospital for treatment. A video of the incident, which has since gone viral, shows the photographers being beaten, with their equipment allegedly targeted by the attackers.
Police from Sakleshpur Rural Police Station intervened and brought the situation under control. A case was registered and seven individuals from Mudigere taluk were arrested. The accused have been identified as Ashi, Prashanth, Raksha, Aravind, Uchit, Prajwal and Nishanth.
A separate incident in Maharashtra is causing concern
The incident comes days after a 25-year-old man was allegedly beaten, stripped, tied to a pole and paraded naked in Jalgaon district for marrying a woman against his family’s wishes.
According to the police, a group of about 15 people barged into the house of the victim’s uncle, where he had moved after marriage. The mob allegedly assaulted the couple before selecting the man and subjecting him to a humiliating public ordeal.
Based on the complaint, the police arrested five persons and registered a case under relevant charges.
Meanwhile, a Delhi-based couple’s pre-wedding shoot in Uttarakhand took a terrifying turn when they were nearly swept away by the raging Ganga river in December 2023.
The couple entered the river in Rishikesh when the water level was low. They had hoped to capture unforgettable pre-wedding photos against the backdrop of the majestic Ganga, but were stranded in the middle of the river when the water level rose.
