On Friday he died in the hospital on Friday at the third year of PhD scholar PhD Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (Iiser), Kalyani, the policeman said.
Anamitra Roy (24) was rushed to Aiims-Kalyani in a critical state from Iiser-Kalyani late on Thursday evening, he said.
The Roy’s family said they were informed that he died because of a sudden heart failure. Roy, the inhabitants of the Shyamnagar area in the neighboring district of 24 Parganas, previously talked about seizures of depression from the age of 14 in positions on social media, said PTI.
He argued that he and several other colleagues had faced harassment in recent months by a doctoral student, Sourabh Biswas. Despite imposing several complaints with his supervisor Anindal Bhadra and the anti-ripping cell of the Institute, he claimed that no measures had been taken.
In the past, he even indicated suicide on several occasions and that “therapies and medicines somehow maintained me alive”.

Roy wrote that on April 12 this year there was an incident in the laboratory, where he allegedly screamed at SouraBh Biswas for a long time. He said he filed a formal complaint with higher officials in the institute, but received no answer from the administration.
He also claimed that both the Council for Student Affairs and his supervisor, were more interested in protecting the reputation of the laboratory than to solve his fears. According to Roy, his supervisor even publicly appreciated Biswas’s work, despite what Roy described as “scientific misconduct” cases.
I seem to have never been created for this world. Yes, I found some good people, some friends, some pieces of love here and there. But I can’t do it anymore. I’m giving up. I can find peace in death I have never found in my life, he added.
While the Institute did not comment on this issue, with the exception of his death, some of his doses claimed that Roy had recently had an argument with a guide in the laboratory.
“We have ordered the probe into the incident to get to know the circumstances … The post mortem report will provide more details,” the officer said, as PTI says.
