More than 10 Ph.D. The scholars at the University of Periyar filed complaints against a professor at the Tamil department and claimed to undergo discrimination and verbal abuse based on cash registers and forced them to work in his house and his country. The professor denied the accusation.
T. Periasama, who served as the head of the Tamil department in the last 12 years, was moved last month. He also faces an investigation into the Committee created by the State Government in 2023 for charging the submission of a certificate of false experience to gain employment.
Complaints of scientists against prof. PERIAMII was submitted to the Committee for Vice -President, an administrative body that oversees the operation of the university.
What are the accusations?
The scholars claimed that prof. Periasama discriminated them by not allowing them to complete their Ph.D. for several years.
One of the complainants, Ph.D. The scholar, who belongs to the planned caste, told Hindu that at Periyar University, the head of the department (hod) serves as a former member of the doctoral committee. “So even though we have various guides, the throw decides on our fate,” he said. Accused by prof. Periasamy of the fact that he gave him “a lot of trouble” and did not recommend it for a prestigious university research scholarship (URF), while recommended other scholars he claimed to be a caste.
“If we take the paper to sign, he would refuse and verbally abuse us,” he said.
“Forced us to do personal work”
Another scholar from the most relevant community (MBC) claimed that Prof. Periasamy “He made us go to the grocery and bank store and forced us to pick up and throw our children to their educational institutions. During its construction, we also made us water to our house.”
He also claimed: “From 2013 to 2022, because of discrimination and verbal abuse, 19 Ph.D. scholars have terminated their research. If the guide does not have a good relationship with Prof. Periamia, he does not send the thesis of his students to evaluate.
The scholar stated that prof. Periasama was removed from the post “after many of us began to file complaints”.
“Different rules for scholars of his caste”
Another scholar, in his complaint, reportedly prof. Periasama used different rules for scholars of other castes and those of his own and that he gave scientists from his caste opportunities to work at the University of Periyar as visiting instructors.
“Previously, when we filed a complaint with the former Chancellor and the registrar, it was redirected to him. Then he threatened us with terrible consequences. Two weeks ago we filed a complaint to the administrative committee, but still have to take any steps,” she said.
She called on the State Government to look at this matter and take steps against prof. Periasamy.
Sources reported except for Ph.D. Surchanted, more than six teaching and non -teaching staff, lodged complaints against prof. PERIAMII for verbal abuse.
Prof. denies the accusation
Prof. Periasama rejected all the accusations and told the Hinde department that the Tamil department was the highest department at the university, while the highest number of students would clean up the national competence (NET). “I have never shown any discrimination of caste and I was strictly followed by the rules. These are fancy complaints,” he added.
