Groups, associations and individuals who plan to install Ganesha’s idols in public places should obtain permission from a system with one window in the Tahsildar offices after submitting an application in the prescribed form, said Commissioner Mandya Kumar.
In an interview with video conferencing with Taluk level officials, Mr. Kumar said that applications submitted to a single window will be verified and destroyed in 24 hours so that applicants do not have to run from the column. This is because the system with one window will include officials from police and fire brigades, CESC and local authorities, he said.
When checking the applications, the authorities must explore details such as parade plans, the number of devotees expected, and instead of immersing the idol. After permission, everyday updates should be shared with the police and the district administration, he said.
Two to three suitable places for immersion of the idol should be identified in each shavings or city. It should be arranged for the right street headlights at night, baricad and the deployment of swimmers in water bodies identified for immersion, he said.
The city local authorities should provide water tankers for immersing idols and promote their routes so that the public can decide to immerse idols in the tankers.
Disable pop idols
The sale and installation of idols of Ganesha made from the plaster Paris (POP) was banned in the district, said the Commissioner’s representative and quoted the orders of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the High Court and the Carnataka Court.
He also ordered officials to carry out raids and act anywhere where pop idols are sold at the Taluk level.
The superintendent district police police Mandya Mallikarjun Baladandi emphasized the need for city local authorities to install more CCTV cameras in places under their jurisdiction.
During the inspection in Nagamangale, Mr. Baladandi said that it was found that several CCTV cameras were inoperative and ordered the municipal authorities to ensure that they were immediately repaired.
He showed that the police will issue each installation of the idol Ganesha in public places and assign police staff to monitor installations, and the police said that requests for idols higher than 5 feet must be submitted separately and the immersion maps of routes should be shared with CESC officials to ensure that the main line is safe.
The permission for the use of speakers should also be obtained at the same time in a single window system, he said.
The meeting was attended by another deputy Commissioner BC Shivanandamurthy, another superintendent of police Thimmaia and other officials.
