Peringamala is preparing to host the Niravu farm festival
Peringamala grama panchayat is gearing up to organize the ‘Niravu’ farmer festival of the district panchayat from September 10.
One of the highlights of the farm festival, held in collaboration with the agriculture department, is the two-acre sunflower farm set against the backdrop of the beautiful Western Ghats. More than 10,000 sunflower plants at the farm have colored the landscape yellow, providing the perfect setting for several selfie corners where visitors will be able to take photos.
A wooden bridge is prepared on top of a 30-foot high rock next to a sunflower farm. A cottage has also been set up for visitors to relax and enjoy the view, especially of the sunflower farm.
Next to the farm, an ecological sitting area was arranged, where visitors can relax and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings. Food stalls provide local food while children can celebrate Onam even after the festival in the Onam corner and on the swings.
Special farm corners were organized at the festival, where visitors can buy planting material. Jeeps were prepared for visitors to the farm.

Farmer seminars and discussions; cultural programs, including ganamela and women’s theater; ‘krishipathashala’ for children; a meeting of female farmers against the background of 2026, which is the International Year of the Female Farmer; and farm games by agriculture department employees were organized under the leadership of district panchayat standing health committee chairman KR Shaiju.
