Puri’s title King Gajapati Maharaja Divyaryingh Deb on Sunday (June 29, 2025) expressed a shock to the impact during the famous Rath Yatra and called on the government of Odisha to immediately conduct a comprehensive incident investigation.
The title king, who is also chairman of Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee (SJTMC), called on the state government to take proper and immediate steps to prevent any such incident.

“Shree Gajapati Maharaja referred to the state government to conduct a quick and comprehensive investigation into this most unfortunate incident and take proper and immediate steps to prevent the repetition of these incidents,” his office said in a statement.
Mr. Deb said he was “shocked and deeply sad, when he learned about the Shree Gundich temple last night, in which three devoted people lost their lives and many others were injured.”
