Union Minister for Parliamentary and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday highlighted the prime minister’s concern over the chaos that followed several cancellations of flights operated by IndiGo Airlines. The minister said the Prime Minister emphasized that passengers should not be harassed.
“During the NDA parliamentary meeting, the Prime Minister told the NDA MPs that people should not worry, face inconvenience. Rules and laws are good, but for the sake of fixing the system, it is not right to trouble people,” Rijiju was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Ahead of the debate on electoral reforms, Rijiju said the government would have a chance to refute the “wrong narrative” being spread by the opposition.
“Today, the Lok Sabha will discuss electoral reform. The opposition will speak. The government will also clear the confusion that has been created. The government will clarify the wrong narrative that is being set about people’s trust and participation in electoral processes,” he said.
Informing about the discussions held during the NDA parliamentary party, Rijiju said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given instructions to the MPs to focus on reforms for the betterment of the people.
“All NDA leaders congratulated PM Modi for NDA’s victory in Bihar elections. PM Modi led all NDA MPs to work for their respective constituencies. PM stressed on implementing reforms in all sectors to make life easier for public and ensure that they do not face any problems. PM said laws should help people a lot. He also urged MPs to join hands with this young PM. NDA parliamentary party meeting,” he said.
The minister also refuted the allegations leveled by the opposition regarding the ‘Vande Mataram’ debate held in Parliament over the upcoming West Bengal elections, saying it is wrong as the government does not decide on the dates of historical events.
During the NDA parliamentary meeting, the Prime Minister told the NDA MPs that people should not have problems, face inconvenience.
“Some people in the opposition are saying that the discussion on Vande Mataram was held because of the Bengal elections. That is wrong. Vande Mataram completed 150 years on November 7. How can we decide on this date? If (the national song) has completed 150 years now, the discussion will also be held now. We do not fix dates for such events, we celebrate them here after attending the Parliament meeting,” he told NDA reporters from Rijiju.
