Kashmir Main Cleric and chairman Hurriyat Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday (May 16, 2025) made a passionate appeal to India and Pakistan to “de escalate” and “work on a permanent ceasefire in J&K”.
Mirwaiz, who supplied the usual sermon in Jama Masjid in Srinagar, emphasized the death of the twins in Poonch in a recent military confrontation between India and Pakistan in J&K. “The painting of smiling twins, twelve -year -old and Urwa, will continue to chase us. The pain has been deep. In the last few days, we have gone through another harrowing experience that this conflict of the festival has lit hours close to the overall war between two nuclear countries,” Mirwaiz said.
He said Kashmir is a nuclear point of flare that can explode at any time. “It is a territorial matter for India and Pakistan, but it is a bleeding wound for the people of J&K to live the reality of this conflict daily. It is a bleeding wound that refuses to recover. How long will we suffer and live in fear and uncertainty?” Mirwaiz asked.
He said when everyone was talking about Kashmir, no one spoke to Kashmir: “With his people, those who live here”.
“We want peace, not war for people from Jamm and Kashmir. We want a solution. We want a solution, not a continuation of the conflict,” Mirwaiz said.
Mirwaiz warned that military Brinkmanship only leads to a disaster. “They want peace or one to go to India and Pakistan, people from Kashmir are surprised,” he added.
He said it was his sincere hope that the ceasefire announced by the CEO of Military Operations (DGMO) of both parties by 18 May “became permanent”.
“One Miracles: If DGMOS both parties can speak and achieve an agreement, what prevents the leadership of India and Pakistan?
