Local residents of Zambol in the Manipur’s Bishhnupur district on Saturday (September 20, 2025) Morning protests against the killing of two Assam rifles in assault in the previous day.

Local residents who wear traditional sad clothing raised the slogans and held the labels condemning the attack and for the “creating fear and panic among the public”, on sit-in just 1 km from the assault.
Later, women took a protest assembly that condemned the attack and criticized the opening of the fire in public places.
Two Jawans were killed from Assam’s rifles, and five others were injured when a group of armed men on Friday evening attacked the paramilitary force in the Nambol Sabal Leikai area, said officials and added any group that had not been reported for the attack.
On Saturday morning there was a restless calm in the capital of Imphal and in the district of Bishnupur, while the identity of the perpetrators was still known.
One of the protesters, S. Bungo, said: “What exactly armed men wanted to achieve this barbaric and unavailable attack? It would be extremely bad by the armed men to see the restrictions that the uniformed staff was considered to be weak.
The prominent organization of Churachandpur Kuki Zo Council also condemned the attack on paramilitary forces.
The Council emphasized that the attack occurred on the site at Imphal Valley, where AfSPA was not in force.
The attack occurred when the Assam Rifles staff from Imphal traveled to the Bishhnupur district on Friday evening.
“… The column was attacked by unidentified terrorists on the highway in the marked manipuro area. In the next event, two Assam rifles were tortured and five were injured who have been evacuated to the edges since then and are currently stable.
The deceased persons were identified as Naib Subedar Shyam Gurung and Rifleman Ranjit Singh Kashyap.
The wounded staff Nongthon told reporters: “The attackers who suddenly bite us around four to five suddenly started fire at us. We immediately retaliate because it would lead to public injury because it was not an isolated area.”
Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla condemned the attack on security forces.
“Governor expressed deep grief and prolonged sincere condolences to surviving families of martyrs and recognized their steadfast courage and determination in the protection of the nation,” said Raj Bhavan.
Mr. Bhalla prayed for the rapid recovery of those who suffered injuries in reserve.
