On Saturday, a large number of people appeared in protest against the WAQF law (amendment) in Idgah Maidan in Tilak Nagar, Mysuru.
Demonstrators were sports on black bands on their arms and showed labels for a demonstration organized under the auspices of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (Aimplb) to oppose the changes that the BJP government on Wednesday.
Tračinky carried slogans as “Stop Police Waqf”, “We reject the WAQF Act” and “save our institute”.
Demonstrators also watched a minute silence in memory of the victims of a tragic terrorist strike in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir.
While some participants were doing sports who condemned the terrorist act in Pahalgam, the banner built for the stage read: “We condemn terrorism and brutal killing in Kashmir”.

Participants also read the preambuli of Indian institutions and committed themselves to protect the Indian unity slogans such as “Jai Hind”, “Jai Bhim” and “Jai Samvidhan”.
The assembly addressed religious leaders who opposed any amendments to the WAQF Act. While the dais was Occupied Mostly by Religious Leaders, Including Sarkhazi of the Mysuru Maulan USman Sharief and Mfti Syed Tajuddin, and Few Progressive Leaders Like Badagalapura Nagendra Mahamaithri and Sarvodaya Karnataka Were Among Those who were present on stage.
Minister Jamiata E ULAM, MEPUR, Hafiz Arshad Saheb, who dealt with the assembly, emphasized the need for Hindes and Muslims to join the hands and send a strong message to the forces that divide the country along the religious lines for their narrow political gains.
Congress leaders, including MLA Tanveer Sait and Harish Gowda, spokesman of the Karnataka Pradesh M. Lakshman Congress Committee and the Social Democratic Party of India Abdul Majed.
The demonstration is approaching on the heels of “Batti Gul”, a protest that turns off the lights for 15 minutes from April 21, shows disagreement with the WAQF Act (amendment) 2025.
