
Up to 78 city local bodies in the state imposed a total punishment of around 75 ₹ Lakh for illegal waste in public areas and water points in contemporary fiscal.
Of these, 16 local bodies gathered a fine above 1 ₹ 1 Lakh of those responsible for breach of standards according to the rules for the management of solid waste and the Water Act (prevention and control of pollution), according to the data compiled by the Ceral Pollution Council of 1 September 2025.
Thiruvananthapuram Corporation imposed a sentence of 22.01 GBP Lakh. Health units deployed to prevent illegal waste landfilling during 11,500 inspections. About 2,300 inspections took place during the night hours.
The Thripunithura village in Ernakulam imposed a sentence of around 5.04 Lakh after more than 180 inspections. Perinthalmanna gathered in the current fiscal fiscal punishment of 4.55 GBP. Medical units there have carried out more than 180 inspections.
The village of Palakkad imposed a total fine of 4.09 ₹ Lakh against illegal ejection of waste in public areas and water points. The health and night units of the civic body performed a total of about 900 inspections.
The recovery against illegal waste dumping was strengthened after the government changed the Keral Municipality and the Panchayat Raj Act since 8 December 2023. The fine was increased from 250 to 5,000 GBP in both rural and urban areas. The fine for waste landfill has been increased from 25,000 to 50,000 GBP.
The government campaign, without a waste of Keral, also recommended strict actions against those who were considered to be the storage of biodegradable and non-biologically distinguished waste in public areas and watercourses that included channels, lakes and rivers.
